But recently I am doing a logo for an opensource project and I am looking for some inspiration to render a wooden texture.
Initially I got some decent results with the filter "matte ridge" but *nix OS don't render special effects so I decided to stick with something more conventional.
So far I "traced" a picture but the result is not very optimal and produce to many nodes...
From left the img, at center traced bitmpa and right tiled tracing.
I am using the one of the middle but is not desirable, even though I am cloning it are still too many nodes...
It can be a solution and pretty smart too! I'll take it as to-do list, I want before finish the logo, then I'll return later to fix what I am not very satisfied about!
The ideal would be to apply a distortion filter in some points (and without exaggeration) to not leave the texture with absolutely straight lines. I don't know how to do it in Inkscape. I made a wood effect in Gimp, something like this. You can see the tutorial here. It is in Brazilian Portuguese, but can be translated via Google...
Hi folks,
it has been a long absence by my side...

Any suggestion will be really appreciate, thanks!

Sadly the above filters do not work with Inkscape :(
I made the example below with dashes and blur.

Anyway thanks! 👍👍👍

Perhaps by using the Roughen Live Path Effect, new ideas can be developed. See ...

Eventually I opted for a basic approach, works fine with a good result, thanks to all for the inspiration!
