I have noticed that 1.3 no longer displays a symbol set sorted by title like it did in 1.2. Looks like it is using the stacking order. That is giving me heartburn as well.
Not sure how to fix this except to go back in the symbol set file, delete the symbols, rearrage the stacking order then add the symbols back.
I split this into its own topic.
Some example images/files will help.
FWIW... It is possible to re-order the stacking in a layer using the Align & Distribute Dialog, or using a text editor.
Ah i'm seeing the issue... the 1.2 Symbols dialog sorts alphanumerically, but the 1.3 version sorts via stacking order.
I suggest reporting this as a bug.
LOL - I was wondering what happened to my post.
Correct - 1.2 sorted the symbols by title.
Is it a bug or was it decided that sorting was not necessary and just dropped the feature????
Sorting by title was important in the way I was using the symbol capabilites of Inkscape. I would imagine that most users would care less how it was sorted.
I'm just happy that Inkscape has symbol capabilities. It changed the my entire workflow for the better.
I consider it a bug, as previous behavior will be expected by veteran users.

Hi i've made myself a number of extensions to manage symbol libraries, including one that restacks symbols in alphabetical order, which you peeps might like to use while waiting for that great idea above to be implemented in 1.3.1.

OK - symbols are not sorted in the symbols dialog. However, it is sorted in the document resources. I just noticed that! lol
