Hi, (using Inkscape 1.3.2) did 2 rectangles and joined then to form a cross, then duplicated (Ctrl+D) and moved one of them to create a 3D effect. then draw the 'side panels' to fill the gaps. But, the cross doesn't look 'smooth' there are some sharp corners. I tryied to use the rounding corners at (trace style, side panel), but still I can't get a well done 3D effect... for sure the genius here will have a bunch of better solutions, any ideas?

(Sorry for my english)

I'd select round ends (the second icon in the row below the one you highlighted on your screenshot).
I'd also check (turn on snapping to path > cusp nodes) if the nodes of side panels are really on the nodes of the crosses.
