I am on a Mac and was able to use the clone short cut once now when i hit the ALT + D i get the dropper tool can anyone tell me how to get that short cut to work as clone again.
Hi khiller, how are you? I just installed the Inkscape version 0.92.2 on a Mac (version macOS Mojave 10.14.6) and you are right. Using Alt + D does not work as intented. I guess, for now, you will have to use the option from the context menu (Edit > Clone > Create Clone).

I think you have to change something regarding the Alt key. See if this faq helps: https://inkscape.org/learn/faq/#mac-os-x-specific-issues
