I should like to put a short text (label) upon an object, not cover it, but make it easy to read.

I know that a sollution to put a rectangle between. I suppose it is possible to make it directly, put the background of the text opaque. But how?

That was not my question. I can show you with XNview with Paint, what I mean. There is only to tick background. There is text with and without background on the picture. I wonder if there is any similar simple sollution for transparent or non-transparent text in Inscape.

What you describe is opaque text with opaque background.

There is no such feature in Inkscape, so the background must be created.

That would make a nice feature. You can request features here: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues

Thank you. Bold text with white outline will be the best for my purpose.
