I am wired for CAD with a lot of experience with Chief Architect until retirement. Discovering Inkscape is like discovering Aladin's cave. Now I can turn my attention to a passion: scale models. My 1st project is 1959 Turn Table Ladder Fire Appliance. I made a prototype concept model 1:35. 

I use Inkscape as a design tool for my etching process. Currently focussed on a combined light table and UV exposure box. I don't need high level detail, just concepts and component positioning.

I also need a 'Photo Tool' Inkscape is perfect - almost... With Inkscape, I can draw with precision. The clone tool is fantastic. Edit one component - update all components.

Development of dimensions tools and scaling tools is something I look forward too. Scaling I can work around, but dimensioning is important. Is there a dimensioning tool on the horizon?
