does anyone know how to get custom templates to sort in some meaningful way? i have created several templates to use and they seem to not be sorted. personally i would like them to be sorted by number giving the name a number and then a name. but this does not seem to work.
That is exactly what i'm looking to have. I am using 1.3 dev. and the welcome screen or opening a new template after inkscape has loaded the custom templates are not sorted. probably i'll just have to wait for the fix to come around.

If I don't misunderstand your problem (I'm french : not always sure to understand right) : it looks to work with Inkscape 1.2

The window of the development version is similar to the new Welcome Dialog, which isn't sorted.

It works here in 1.3 dev "Inkscape 1.3-alpha (9cd57a788, 2023-05-01)" on Windows.
