I use the Bezier tool with the option for Spiro path then draw something.. If I then use the select it with the select tool, and note that the path has 15 nodes, but if I use the node tool and select all the nodes, it shows 6 nodes. Any idea why this is the case? I attached an example.

The Spiro option is a path effect that uses a control path.
One can use Object to path to bake-in the shape like a typical path.
