Inkscape would be perfect tool for me if it had one more important feature. Coreldraw has this, but after my computer crash I lost my early Corel, and do not want to buy new for a huge price.
I am talking about erasing parts of unnecessary lines. If I try that with erasing tool, it erases the complete line and not only a part of it.
It would be perfect if Inkscape had a trim function used with every CAD software which could be used with intersection of two lines, but erasing parts of them would be enough. So please, consider adding that feature to otherwise perfect software.
That's an Ai gesture thing, but very similar to 'trim" in CAD, which deletes a line up to the next geometry with a single click on a line using a dedicated tool.

Can you give an example of an object where you want to remove parts?
Have you tried using the node tool?
The eraser tool has to major modes: delete objects, and cut out from objects.
(only in that mode, it creates closed shapes, which may not be what the OP wants - hence the request for an example)
Good point.
I guess he wants something like this:

It´s not from AI - but trim as in CAD nailed it. ;-)
