I'm a researcher in Quantum Electronics at the University of Leeds, UK, working mainly on the development of terahertz-frequency sensor systems using quantum-cascade lasers.
I've been using Inkscape since about 2005, mainly for scientific diagrams and illustrations.
I've also been a member of the development team since 2011. My main contributions have been in improving the build-system, enabling some rudimentary support for Gtk+ 3, and generally helping with code clean-up.
Inkscape is Free and Open Source Software licensed under the GPL.
