I made this illustration because I wanted to try out the support for pressure sensitive tablets that was introduced in Inkscape 1.0. The lines turned out a bit squiggly so I spent some time cleaning things up and then coloring with the paint bucket tool. About half way through in the coloring process I noticed that the accuracy of the paint bucket actually depends on how much you zoom in on the document. So besides changing the paint bucket preferences, that’s a tip right there if you want to get more accurate results when coloring illustrations. One thing that surprised me is that although Inkscape seems to make several pressure sensitivity ”samples” while you draw a line, the Powerstroke LPE only adds one single point that decides how the brushstroke should turn out. Hopefully this feature becomes more flexible in future versions of Inkscape.
Sistine is a cartoon in the series Plain Air and is included in the eBook by the same title. The line work is brush pen and ink. The ceiling chapel image was downloaded and modified by another program to correct the perspective. Color on the characters and background are via Inkscape.

Chuku Cartoon Series teaser/screen test. Mostly created using Inkscape (Laboratory Scene, Chuku Main Character, Bedroom Scene, Car that gets blown up. The laboratory and car that the mech blew up were drawn using Inkscape and the plains rotated in 3D space in AE). I animated the mecha model in Blender and exported as an image sequence to be composited in After Effects. (Contains a mech 3D model from Blendswap and one background from DeviantArt-Scene where evil mechanoid terrorizes the city) Music, sound effects and voiceover by Nathaniel Diaz-Rua
