There are 3 general types of websites where you can upload your files or images, if you need to share them with us, and you don't want to attach them (which means upload to our gallery).
Note that we're providing this list to speed up your search, but we don't indemnify (promise that they are safe). Just because they come up in a web search doesn't mean they are necessarily reputable, so you should do your own research before you use them. However, we try not to knowingly list unsafe sites here.
Some are completely free, some only have free trials. Do your research. There are many more of these, if you search the internet.
Image Hosts
I don't know of any image hosts anymore, which accept SVG images. But these will take raster formats:
For awhile, this topic will remain unlocked, and accept suggestions to be added to the list. After some point, it will probably start to attract spam, and we'll need to lock it. But for now, if you know of a reputable site, please feel free to suggest new additions to this list, by posting a reply. Then we'll add it to the list above.
I have been using forums for a very long time and the need for a convenient image host has been a problem. Recently I have started using this one. So far, I have been super-impressed!
https://postimages.org/ A wonderfully handy extra is a wee app that you can optionally download which allows a sort of one-click "upload to site, get url, and copy it to the clipboard" solution. The app can be mapped to the PrtScr key, and once you have selected a screen area, it also allows you to copy, save, print, Tweet, Facebook, Reddit, or email the resulting image. It even includes a mini image editor. When I saw this thread I had a quick try to see if it handled .svg files. At first I thought YAY!!, but the result was converted to .png and I am not sure how reliably, perhaps the forum gurus could look in to this. It also has an option for forums to embed a plug-in to make it easy for forum users. (I know this sounds like an ad, I am not connected with them! I came across it almost at random).
There is also Mega Upload (www.mega.nz) which today competes with Dropbox in my opinion. Free and it offers 50GB of space with no charge. It's good to share files with other people using this service.
Kirstie, there is a way to attach images from other hosts. See the 2nd message in How to Make a Screenshot topic. I don't know if it's technically "embedded" in the message, but I think it is.
Google Blogger is the best image sharing plateform, it help to load fast images. We need to just upload a image and copy the url of image and use anywhere we want.
Regarding Google_Blogger you might want to check out its site policy. You´re allowing G.. to publish/alter your content every-time/everywhere for instance.
It seems I exceed an image upload limit in a few days with GIFs - external hostings for me are the last resort as I lost oodles of content to dishonest companies that either went bankrupt or were closed for other reasons or switched unexpectedly to subscription models.
We've been running since 2008, have no ads on our site, nor dodgy registrations just cos you use the free service, of which you can send up to 5 GB. The files in the free service are only available for 7 days. You can embed an image that is hosted on the site.
Paid accounts give you 1 TB of space, longer file availability, and a few other options.
Flickr has a free member option. Which has a 1000 image limit. Does not allow svg, only raster formats like png, jpg, etc. Its fairly straightforward to link to (presents an image share link) and its easy to replace an image with an updated one - so you can reuse image slots.
I don't trust external hosters anymore. Some of them confront you with hideous ads or download procedures. I don't understand what is so difficult to drag a file into the forum window or use the paperclip icon to upload files. If someone asks for help here, but at the same time sends the helpers to dubious sites, I won't do it anymore. Seriously?

Art Galleries
I'm not sure if these accept SVG. I guess DeviantArt probably does, but I'm not sure about others.
File Sharing
This is where you can upload SVG and other types of files (including images).

DeviantArt stopped allowing SVG files several years ago. You must now zip them up first before posting there.
I want to suggest adding common blog sites to the list (not only because this is from where I preferably link my images)
https://wordpress.com/
https://www.tumblr.com/
https://www.blogger.com/go/home
Thanks Sven. I'm sure those will be helpful!

Just a suggestion for image hosting (not .svg)

HI Victor, That looks like a great space. Is it possible to embed an image on this forum using a link from Mega?
Hi Kirstie! Maybe. I am not sure. Someone will have to test this out to be sure.

TinyPic is no longer available. Hope you know :)
Wow! Looks like they might have been bought out by Photobucket. At least they are advertising for them. Paid service 👎
I'll delete from the op. Thanks for letting us know.

Good initiative :)
I will suggest adding instant.io to the list.
https://instant.io/ - Streaming file transfer over WebTorrent (torrents on the web).
I'd like to propose Filemail to that list: https://www.filemail.com/.

Maybe it is just to avoid running out of space in the forum because images, in general, tend to occupy more space than pure text? Just a thought.
We're locking this topic. It's collecting bots and links to sites we don't have time to validate.
@devdude, thanks for your input.
Most images and files relevant to Inkscape can be attached to posts.
