I've tried studying the manual etc, but I can't work this one out.
I'm working on a drawing of a boat, where the hull is (obviously) pointed, and it features two stripes around the top of the hull. In order to do this,Β I have two stripes which have been made as paths as the top of the hull is quite curved, these then meet up to the taper of the hull, I need to trim the ends to suit the angle of the hull.
I've tried various path tools to do this, but I'm guessing, as it's not a closed path this will not work.
Any suggestions?
The two images show what i'm trying to acheive, the white shape is the area I want to remove, and doing this works on a white background, but if I want it transparent (shown here green) then it shows up.Β
You can convert both lines to outline paths with Ctrl+Alt+C. (menu> path > strtoke to path) Then they will become closed paths with a fill colour, instead of lines.
If you then duplicate the hull, you can select one 'line' and the hull on top of that and choose menu > path > intersection. Repeat wthis with the other 'line'
Also a Clip is useful for this. Select 2 objects on top of each other. Go menu Object->Clip->Set and the object on the bottom gets clipped to the shape of the object on top. This is non destructive. Meaning it can be undone at a later stage using Object->Clip->Release.

Thanks in advance...
Hi there,

Good luck with the boat.
Thanks I'll give that a go. By all intents and purposes the image is finished, it's just one thing for future uses which could be annoying!
