I get the "unspecified error - abort" every time I open an Inkscape file or even start a new Inkscape document. I have uninstalled, reinstalled and I still keep getting the error. I've even reinstalled it with a different path from the original and I still get the error. Please help! Thank you.

    1. Describe your OS (your computer's Operating System: Mac/Windows/Linux/etc. & version).
    2. Describe if Inkscape was newly installed, or upgraded from an earlier version.
    3. Describe the version of Inkscape and the installer you used (the file you downloaded from the web: .msi/.exe/.zip/appimage/other, PPA/Snap/Flatpak, dmg/other )
    4. Describe any special hardware being used, like tablet/stylus, external drives or multiple monitors.
    5. Describe any helper/assistive programs or keyboard modifiers (macros, languages, etc.).

    Bonus points, if you:

    • Attach* a screenshot of the issue.
    • Attach* an example SVG file that has the issue.

Posting links to outside hosts is also permitted, hotlinking (embedding) is not.

    1. Windows 11 Pro
    2. Inkscape has been running for a long time, then it crashed. When I reopened it, it gave me that error. So, I installed the latest version. Inkscape 1.4.exe. It still gives me that error, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again. Still gave me the error.
    3. Inkscape 1.4.exe
    4. Just one external drive. No extra monitors.
    5. No helper programs.
Even if I just start a new document, it gives me the error.

    Thanks in advance! Much appreciated.

I would uninstall again and also delete the Inkscape user profile directory (../users/yourusername/AppData/Roaming/inkscape).

Then I would re-install Inkscape using the .msi installer. If you frequently use layers, I'd opt for the 1.3.2 version.
