Hi all:  As the topic says, we have the potential for creating a dedicated Inkstitch forum here but we need a critical mass of users.  If you are interested in such a forum please "RESPOND" to this topic and state your interest in this endeavor.

Hi sourcandy.  I finally feel like I understand how Inkscape/Inkstitch work together.  I'm still no expert but have been successful in creating lots of projects.  What problems are you encountering?  Perhaps I can help you.

@Huertaaj Hi there! Thank you for your response. I'm glad to hear that you've had much success, that makes me optimistic. Here's a brief of my issue: in a nutshell, I can't seem to use the "param" function in my inkstitch extension. I'll link the video tutorial that I found that lead me to Inkscape/stitch in the first place.

    https://www.youtube.com/embed/1wu3k7mjdP0?rel=0

So at around 11:06, the video shows how to select "params" to create the actual embroidery design. But, when I try to drop down into Extensions >> Ink/Stitch, I can't select Params, or really anything. I've attached a screenshot.

My best guess so far is that I installed the Inkstitch extension incorrectly. I did that the first time, and totally broke my Inkscape app, and had to redownload both. Maybe I still installed it wrong, but just less wrong than the first time? I didn't find the tutorial very helpful at this step.

So, I think I'll start by re-downloading both again, and trying to install the extension correctly this time. If you have any advice or experience with this kind of issue, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thank you for your time already.

Hello sourcandy:  Unfortunately I'm no expert at installation and troubleshooting those kinds of things.  I can't help you on that.  Hopefully others will be able to get you on track.

Once you get Inkstitch up and running and are able to access the Params in the Inkstitch menu, then I might be able to help with how to use that plugin in combination with Inkscape.

I started a Ink/Stitch User Community. This site is new. I see there isn't much traction here. I don't know if external links are allowed, so I won't post it here in consideration of this board. If someone is interested let me know. We have not had much traction either. Most user support is on Facebook, I don't care for that platform due to it's privacy issues.  I have been a user of Ink/Stitch for about 2 years.

Hello MK82, I received an email that you posted here but don't see anything written.  Did you say that you started an InkStitch group somewhere?  If so, where?

I also can't stand FB (and don't use it) and that is why I wanted to create an InkStitch group here, but it doesn't seem that there is much interest.  I think that we should start a group here, and as they say..."if you build it they will come".  However, unless that InkStitch group is actually started here I don't believe that we will be able to get a big enough group to justify it starting on this website.  It's kind of the chicken and the egg problem.  You can't have an egg without a chicken and you can't have a chicken without the egg.  Oh well.

If people are willing to share their knowledge, I will gladly join the community

I've been working with InkStitch for some 2 years now and recently bought an embroidery machine. That's where the big projects start de develop

I've been trying to improve the convert to satin function. Especially with polygons it doesn't work as I want it to.

What I need to do is to call the Inkscape "Join selected nodes" from a python script

Does some know how to get that do that?

Hi Martin:  Would it be possible to modify the description of the InkStitch forum to the following?.  Thanks!

A forum for talking about using the InkStitch extension within Inkscape to create designs for embroidery machines
