OK, So I have switched over using Inkscape 0.91 to 1.0.2 on my iMac and things are going quite smoothly, so far, but I see that Quartz (X11) starts up too like it used to.
I thought the 1.0.2 version didn’t need it anymore.
Not really a problem as far as I can tell.
Any thoughts welcome. thanks.

Ok, so I reinstalled the upgrade of Quartz to 2.8.0_beta2
and now the problem with Quartz which was constantly restarting has been fixed.
Nice. So Inkscape does not use X11 any more which is as it should be. just in case it helps someone else.
