I am trying the extrude function. I was watching a YouTube tutorial and I successfully completed it. I tried to do my own - same basic shape without all the extras. The extruded shape in the tutorial on YouTube has 2 segments at the corner, whereas, mine has just 1 and impossible to select for saving and eventual union with the bottom surface. Why?
I have tried to upload to original file and it was too large. I exported it by selection and saved as Inkscape SVG - 7.17 KB. When Upload the file Inkscape Forums website say that is too big. Why?
The Extrude function in ver, 1.0 and 1.1 functions differently in 1,2. You need to manually add nodes (in ver. 1.2) at the apex of your curves to get 2 segments at your curve after the extrusion process. I stumbled upon this by happenstance.

Hard to say without a link to the tutorial and a sample of your Inkscape svg file.

Ja, I watched the video, but we need your sample Inkscape svg file.
Tyler,
I cannot upload the file here. Not set up to send it elsewhere. Need some assistance as to where to send it so you can view it.
Colin
Should be able to attach by clicking on the paperclip icon... you have met the required number of approved posts, I think.

That doesn't sound right.
In the meantime feel free to use dropbox, or other sharing services mentioned here: https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/where-can-i-upload-my-files-or-images/

I don't know why the upload is having an issue. In the meantime I will pm you my email addy.
I used Google Drive. Never used it before now.
I got the file and it seems like a step from the tutorial was missed: Object to path.
See https://youtu.be/k_QCFOGLnlU?list=PLfl1MlLvzE_rUhPxMDgWikzBrgnUBHxbb&t=440 (7:20 into vid)
I got the latest file and it does seem that the extrude extension in Inkscape 1.2 behaves differently. Ima play with it some more.
OK
