Instructions/Information

• To submit your artwork, scroll to the bottom of the page and while logged in, click the paperclip (bottom-left) to upload your image, add a description in the text box (optional) and click "Submit Reply".
• If you'd like to post work-in-progress artwork, create a thread in the "Work in Progress" section of the forum, and post your images there, with the title "[Month] [Year] [Challenge Title] WIP - [your artwork title]" (you are welcome to ask for help there if you get stuck). When finished, post the final graphic to this thread.

Origami style stuff. Made in Inkscape and retouched in Gimp, as usual.

@rosa0123 I like to see original works, but it isn't against the rules. Originals are more likely to be shared by Inkscape though (something we plan to do more in the near future).

@mrks9 The lighting looks excellent on your origami pieces. Thanks for sharing!

@rosa0123 Thank you. Actually they are simple triangles with flat colors, some contact shadow and a noise filter on top. The background is one of Inkscape's default patterns. 😄

This is my entry...I had a hard time coming up with something I actually could make out of triangles only...so I went for a flower

I've been thinking a bit about what an object is that consists only of triangles. But by the time I figured it out, I saw that Marcos had overtaken me.😅 Anyway, here is my origami crane. 😆

Something abstract.

In a certain way, triangles = pixels. We can do almost anything with them, 2D or 3D.

This one is pretty old now (2022). It was a redesign with text + S logo + background entirely build with a patchwork of the same original triangle (just a little bit stretched).

This is my first challenge. Looking forward to other challenges

@Loniyke Welcome. It looks amazing, I love it. Is it all in Inkscape? How did you get that strong glow effect? 💯

I just finished the other piece as well. I hope it is good enough. 

Some amazing entries... I think keeping the challenges simple (and flexible) is the way forward.

@razr I'm stunned! How did you make the paper so realistic (the way it changes direction with the folds)? Did you use a photo reference?

@mrks9 Yeah, it is all inkscape except the film grain. The "strong glow effect"  was achieved with layers of varying blur values. I also played with the blend modes during color grading using layers

@pacer: yes, I used a reference photo. More precisely, I printed a sheet with this triangle pattern, folded it, and took a few photos. My idea was that the pattern running on the surface would improve the illusion of realism. For the crane, I tried to distort the pattern, but for the boat, I just drew the lines by hand.
