Beyond the Basics Maybe bug in last Inkscape versions?

    Hallo everybody.

I was editing a big file that I started with Inkscape 1.1.

(I used levels and effects on levels a lot - one of the biggest things it was changed later on, but I don't know if this can be useful - also in this particular file I have just a couple of levels).

However, now, on Inkscape 1.2.x, I keep having crashes.

    • I was thinking about the file was too big, so I removed 99% of the onjects, cleaned it etc. Still having crashes.
    • I resetted the Inkscape preferences, 'cause I read it can be useful. It didn't work.

I attach a part of the file. When I do "something", ie. playing with rectangles, then turning into path, then editing the nodes etc. I get the crash.

I attach my file as example, an inkscape_backtrace.txt I produced, and a screenshot of the error.

Hope this will help the team, but most importantly hope this will help me

PS: If I open the file with an older version (ie. a Portable Inkscape 1.1) I can work with no problems.

Yeah, there have been issues with 1.2.2

There is an updated version of 1.2.2. Get that now even though it has the same filename. There is an issue with snapping/moving when snap enabled. I think it has been sorted.

    Good luck.

Inkscape is one of the most versatile software I have ever used. However, it is not fast enough, and needs to be optimized to complete large files, or multiple combinations.

No software is all things for all users. Inkscape provides an open-source alternative for 90% of users' needs.

the sample file behaves as expected in Inkscape v1.2.1, WIndows.

This did the trick, I think. I'm working with the original file after the re-installing, and I had no weird crashes.

Side note, I hope this can help other people around, I was using the packet automatically managed from Chocolatey package manager, that apparently wasn't the latest one, at least 'till yesterday (12-12-2022).
