Beyond the Basics Features shift during print

I had posted this issue about two months ago and I thought I had solved it but it's still there.  I admit to not being a "sophisticated" user of Inkscape and this problem is above my level so I'm hoping someone here can enlighten me.

I'm, creating several labels which will be printed three up.  The main background consists of the American flag with a service medallion (logo) superimposed. This round logo has a round white circle below it which creates a white border around the logo when printed.  I created this logo/background separately as a group which was then placed over all three flag images.  Easy peezy!  The graphic display shows everything to be accurately aligned.

However, when I print this three-up label something weird happens.  The bottom-most logo appears perfectly centered with the white circle but the image above has the two slightly off-center and the top image is even more off.- maybe 0.010-0.020 - enough to be really obvious.

I tried to fudge the relationships to correct the discrepancy and it got even weirder.   I ungrouped the two top logos and slightly shifted the X and Y positions to compensate so graphically the logo is not perfectly centered within the white circle. Logically this should correct the printed image.  Au contraire!  The two top images are now even more off and what's really puzzling is that the bottom image - which printed perfectly before tweaking the two top ones - is also shifted off-center and the top of the logo is now clipped even though it's still within the white circle.  BTW, the shifted image occurs no matter how it's saved e.g. PDF, JPG.

Where am I going wrong???   I'll attach the file so you can see what I mean.

Looking at the shared svg file, I cannot replicate the issue when printing from a copy saved as as PNG, or PDF.

Some issues observed in the svg file:

    • The top and middle emblem groups (the emblem and circle) are located .030" to the left in relation to the bottom emblem. The vertical placement varies up to .014" in relation to the flags.
    • The red banners saying "Marines" have their top edge in line with the top red stripe, but the bottoms of the banners do not extend to the bottom edge of the bottom red stripe (.020").
    • The white circles behind the emblems are only 95% opaque... (the flag stripes are bleeding through).

I'd save a copy as PDF and print from that. If the print from that pdf has an issue, please share the pdf and the svg that it was saved from.

Thanks for the response.  The variations in location had to do with my not making final adjustments so that's not an issue.  Also, I had printed from a PDF and it showed the same shifting.  I just discovered a clue - I'm printing with an Epson printer but I also have a Canon and so I just printed a copy with the Canon and there is no shift.  Any thoughts?  Time to contact Epson.

Depending on the printer, there may be an printhead optimization/registration/calibration routine in the settings.

It's something in the Inkscape software.  I just uploaded the .SVG file to Gimp and printed from there and everything is perfect.  I'm not an expert so I don't have a feel for what the issues is but I'm satisfied that I found a way around the problem.

The default setting in Inkscape Print Rendering tab is Vector. Selecting Bitmap instead should give you the same result as printing from Gimp.
