SVG Working Group Report

Inkscape uses the W3C SVG file-format as its native file format. This makes Inkscape files directly viewable in any modern web-browser. The SVG Working Group is in the process of writing the SVG 2 specification. It is important that Inkscape takes part in this process to ensure that SVG 2 has the features that we want such as mesh-gradients, wrapped-text, and hatched fills.
Tav represents us in the working group. He contributes not only to specification text for new SVG 2 features but also to testing new SVG 2 features by implementing them inside Inkscape.
Tav attends the group's weekly telephone meetings as well as some of the periodic face-to-face meetings. Inkscape has helped cover Tav's travel expenses. Tav's reports from the face-to-face meetings can be found on his blog at:
