I have a hand done brush and ink drawing. I scanned it, then traced it in inkscape. The outer edges of the ink marks are now paths. I want to fill the open areas within the drawing with color. But I do NOT WANT TO OBSCURE MY INK WORK. The Fill and stroke tool puts a colored outline within my ink outline and does not fill the entire blank space.

I trace around the edges of the open spaces in the ink drawing with a beziere tool in another layer and fill that with color easily, but it is very time consuming.

Is there a quicker process ?

Please may I ask a favor. Don't just tell me to watch inkscape basic videos on fill and stroke. I have spent days doing this and found no answers there. Only answer if you have solved this problem personally and know exactly how to do it.

    Thank you kindly fellow artists.

I'd use the bucket tool and send the new color object to the bottom of the stack. But I haven't solved this problem personally, since I haven't worked on your specific project.

Here's a link to the manual on the bucket tool:Β http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Bucket.html

    Hi there,

You could use the bucket fill tool. That makes a path between the lines.
If you tweak its settings, you can make the fill a bit bigger than the white space.
After that, you can place the new path under/behind the black lines.

I know you do not want to look at videos anymore, but I learned a lot by watching Kay from Cleversomeday.
She explains the bucket tool for tracing very well.

** Hahaha Tyler posted the same thing at the same time!
