Hello! I have created a block of text (binary code actually, spelling out the name of our new organization). I then converted it to a path, and then applied dynamic offset. I then put it over a shape that I also had turned into a path, and did the clipping mask thing (Object > Clip > Set). So far so awesome.
Then I went back and did it again, but applied a cool-looking three-colour gradient to the block of text first.
Sadly, when I clipped it the second time, the text adopted the shape I'd masked, but sadly the gradient was LOST.
How can I do this and keep the three colour gradient?
If I can get this logo done (I am so close!) I can draw funds to make a donation from the budget I would have spent on a non-open source software...
To try to answer your question -- select the clipped object and look at the status bar to see if it reports there is a gradient. If there is, remove it, and try re-applying it. If there isn't, try to add it back. If neither of those works, please share the SVG file.
By the way, after you reply (so I know you've seen this) I'll move this message to a Beginners Questions board. (I could move it now, but you might not be able to find it.)
My apologies for the delay in my reply; holidays...
Thank you very much for the suggestion. I will try it out first thing tomorrow. I will report back to this thread, or to wherever you move it that's more appropriate so long as I can find it again.

Are you using a clip or a mask? These are different things. Please clarify!
Clip.
Welcome to the forum!
I just noticed your profile, and coincidentally was just wondering how to find someone with your qualifications. Are you familiar with the....mostly defunct Open ClipArt website? A bit of history https://inkscape.org/forums/tutorials/free-svg-resources-around-the-net/#c7929

Best regards,
Aah, well it's a long story, but I can't move it now. Maybe someone else will.
