I have a normal rectangle, and I'm putting a stroke around it. I want the caps to be rounded. See picture. I've made sure it isn't two open nodes on top of each other. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?
That's a bug which appears at certain size. I thought it'd be fixed long ago. Unfortunately that seems not the case. Which version of Inkscape is this?
Hi, Eric - just to verify that you're a person before I approve your second post - would you paste the contents of the About Inkscape version information reports? Just click down at the bottom right on the version information (and the bug tracking would also be helpful since having both is better than just one. Thanks!

I approved the comment. Looks legit to me.

I can easily reproduce this "ancient" odd behaviour with Inkscape 1.3-dev (862cf8c2, 2022-09-18) macOS. Only cure is to convert with "Stroke to Path".
As I recall a node can be added to another segment and node #1 moved there.
Oh - thank you!! That doesn't just convert the stroke to path but also fixes the square corner. great workaround.
As mentioned above, removing and replacing a segment changes which node is #1, moving the issue to another node where it is not noticeable.
But don´t delete the new node otherwise the issue will just travel to the next corner.
I would not place any bets on it but I´m not able to recreate this behaviour with the new release from yesterday. Fingers crossed. 👍
