RGB and CMKY

Hello, 

If I export a PNG in Inkscape, and then convert the PNG RGB data to CMKY, exporting as TIFF :

Does this equate to having a useful CMKY TIFF file, or is it too late at that point, ie, all the good stuff has already gone ?
