Beyond the Basics Create custom hatch pattern with "Object" -> "Pattern" -> "Objects to Pattern (Alt+I)"

    Hi forum,

I'm trying to create a custom diagonal hatch pattern with the function "Object" -> "Pattern" -> "Objects to Pattern (Alt+I)".

To some extent, I succeeded. I have created the below hatch pattern "pattern4079" by applying the "Objects to Pattern" command to the two parallel black lines, and filled the green square with the new pattern:

However, it is a mystery to me how to change the angle of the pattern. This is shown over here even with an animation (see below), but I still do not get it. Do I have to select both objects in some special way?

Also, my new pattern is scaled much larger than when it was created from the two black lines. Why is that and how can I fill the square with the unscaled pattern?

    Thanks for help or ideas!

Edit: I see now the pattern handles -- they are like half a meter off the page in my file!

Why is that, and is there a way to move them closer to the shape with the hatch fill?

Also, I'd be interested to know where that new custom pattern "pattern4079" is stored as SVG code, such that I could maybe manually edit the code to arrive at the exact hatch pattern that I am looking for.

Alternatively, I'd be happy to know how to create the hatch pattern in the first place exactly to scale of those initial two lines (i.e. with the same line offset and stroke width).

I have attached my test file.

Edit2: after trying dozens of variants of the "Objects to Pattern" approach to create a hatch that is to scale to the grid, I'm about to give up...

Is it not possible to create a hatch with exact measures that also doesn't scale with the object...?
