Hi. Starting with Extensions > Wireframe Sphere, I created a "standard sphere".

Then using mainly the Path Effect > Envelope Deformation, I twisted and contorted this shape into "other things". Such as a Stone Gorilla  (Iguana) Head,  a Bird Like Back, an Elephant, a Goat Like Thing, a Dolphin Like Thing, and something resembling a Duck.

Using that Path Effect, and the Bend Path Effect, and occasionaly the Lattice Deformation 2 Path Effect.

You can also save the "sphere" to the Clipboard, and use the Pen and Pencil Tools to create wild results.

I invite you to play around with this. And, of course, you are not limited to a Wireframe Sphere as your starting object. Just use your imagination.

    Enjoy.
