Beginners' Questions Stitch Stroke Sub Paths

I'm trying to re-create making hair using something called 'stitch stroke sub paths'.  The manual starts out using Stitch Sub Paths, but if you scroll down the page it changes to 'stroke' sub paths for making hair.  When I go into the Path Effects Editor, I don't see 'stroke sub paths' as an option.   And in using stitch sub paths, I can't make the hair as described.  Assuming that this was written for the older versions of Inkscape.  Any idea what may have replaced it in the latest version?  Here's the link to the manual:

It's a typo. No change, no different LPE.

Click on the node tool icon in the LPE dialog, then use that to modify the shape of the stitch path, to make it rounded, or insert a stitch path from clipboard.

    See "3.) Adjust stroke path".

Thanks for your response.  So clearly this is a 'dee' issue, lol.   I did all that, and can maniuplate the paths but nothing close to resembling hair!  I am wondering if the manual is possibly missing a path.  As of yet haven't found a tut that uses this to create hair, but still looking.

attaching what I've done, I 'think' it's similar to the manuals' paths used.  (well if I can get the attachment to work that is, first attempt)

off topic - It just hit me that Maren is Moini - is that right?  I'm used to seeing usernames so have to get used to people's displayed name!

Did you try what I described about deforming the stitch path? I don't see any rounding of the stitches. You may need to look for it in the top left corner of the drawing after clicking the corresponding button in the LPE dialog.

Well I was deforming the actual node path vs the stitches, just found the stitch path, and yes, that did it!  YAY.   Added a few more nodes and rounded them. Looks like it'll work now.   thx much.

for those who want to see what stitch can do, here's the hair, needs work, but it's a start.
